Me and my Sweetheart husband. In spite of the fact that Valentines is his birthday, he has never forgotten or slacked on providing me with some amusing and kind gifts.

An individually wrapped sweet potato and a cheeseball, yes that is right, he bought me a cheese ball for Valentines Day.. He later wrote in an email to his family, that "nothing says I love you like a cheeseball!" I can't say that I have ever bought a cheeseball, though I am sure I have tried a few at varying Christmas parties of my past. The sweet potato had meaning in his love note that accompanied the gifts.

I was rather amused by my husbands idea of romance. He has never ceased to amaze me with his gift giving abilities during the course of our relationship. When we were first dating he would leave cans of corn or refried beans or something of that nature, on my doorstep with quotes or notes that would always make me laugh or inspire me. We have now been married 7 1/2 years and he continues to make me laugh. I sure love him for it. Sometimes I wish I could get red roses and chocolate (which I love), but how could I trade my cheeseball for that?

The personalized note that came with the gifts was my favorite. Nathan is very poetic and has a way with words that always brings a smile to my face and fills my love tank. I feel loved most with "words of affirmation" (according to the 5 love languages book) and Nathan always does a great job of letting me know how much I mean to him and the kids. I just wish I could be a little better at speaking his love language, which is physical touch. I spent most of the rest of the day cooking and baking for his birthday dinner and treat. I wanted his day to be special, but didn't think of buying him a cheeseball. I hope he wasn't disappointed?
