Blanky Party Plus

Whenever I have the deck open, the girls are out there playing within seconds.  I don't usually like to have it open because they scare me out there.  They try to climb on it and throw things in the neighbors' yard.  I finally found a solution (since our door doesn't lock) and bought a small shower curtain rod that I can twist in the one side of the door from inside and they can't get out... yippee!!!  However, once the cool weather hit and if my husband is home, the door is open.  The girls decided to have a campout one morning and I admit I was rather entertained watching them bring their blankies and pillows and setting up camp.  They really are quite adorable.
I guess they got a little cold and had to go and get their coats.
Later that week, while I stayed after church for choir (so much better to be able to sing in it and not direct it), Nathan had a plan at home with the girls.  He couldn't help but notice Lily's affinity toward her blankies and when she started singing, "happy birthday dear blankies" he decided we should have a blanky party.  So, he made a cake from scratch (his favorite) and gave it both pink and white frosting (since she has one pink blanky and one white one).  Needless to say, Lily was in heaven and in awe of her sweet daddy.
Abigail was pretty excited too... all of our kids love their blankies and I don't know what we would do if they were ever permanently separated from them.  They'd prefer their blankies to any toy or movie any day!

We needed help eating our cake and the chicken dinner I made, so we invited our neighbors' the Cecils over.  They graciously accepted our invitation and we had a nice time chatting with them.  They are in the process of trying to build their dream home and sell their home in our neighborhood.  We are pretty sad that it seems to be going a lot faster than planned.  We were planning on moving about the same time (in June) and now it looks like they will only be here until around January.  That will be a sad day in the Clark house.  The kids absolutely love playing outside with Jake and Joseph and I have been spoiled by both Dallas and Christine, as they get my kids for the bus in the morning and Kaylie in the afternoon.  They are great friends and we will miss them dearly.  In the mean time, we have to have them over as much as possible!
Kaylie and Jake are two peas in a pod and it will be really really hard for Kaylie when he isn't here anymore.

Everyone was eager to try a piece of the blanky cake.  The pink frosting was a new one we got from the store- cherry flavor (quite disgusting if you ask me).  At least I could tolerate the white one!  We also whipped out the new ice cream I was excited about, although I was really wanting to be selfish and have the dark chocolate light one all to myself.  It was delicious and I was sad I had to share.  I guess I can always buy more :)
