Kaylie, my angel helper
I direct our ward choir at church and often have a hard time making it there on time and in piece. Lately I have had to take all 4 kids with me (as Nate has had to work Sundays) and that usually means waking at least 2 of them up from naps early (which is never really a good or fun idea). This past Sunday, Kaylie opted not to take a nap and colored and played while the other kids and I snoozed for a while. I woke up about an hour before I had to leave for choir to find sweet Kaylie making her own snack. She was in the kitchen putting butter and jam on bread (not toasted). I laughed and asked her what she was doing. She said, "I didn't want to wake you up mom, so I am making my own snack cause I'm hungry". I then asked if she'd help make snacks for all the kids so we could get to choir on time. She was really excited to have that kind of responsibility and it made her very happy to be able to use the butter knife and make up her own kind of sandwich. While I got things ready to bring to the car she merrily worked away in the kitchen. When I came back up, I found that she had put all the "sandwiches" in baggies along with another little snack for each child, from our snack box. She really is a good girl and a great helper! I am so lucky to have her as my first born. She is a good example to her siblings and loves being the big sister. I love her so much!
