I had a rather humorous activity with Kaylie and Carter this evening. I thought it would be fun for them to look through the circulars for Black Friday and circle the things that they could potentially ask Santa to bring them for Christmas. I left the kids to do this while I washed the dishes, then came back to find that nearly everything in the circulars was circled. They had highlighted dog toys (because they looked like stuffed animals), watches (they can't tell time) and just about anything that looked like they could play with. I told them that there was no way Santa would bring them everything they wanted but that they could each choose a few things to put on a list and he'd bring them what he thought was best for them. Carter has been especially naughty for the past 3 weeks, so this was what his letter looked like:
"Dear Santa,
I have not been a very good boy this year. I steal food and go potty on the floor. Mommy says I can only ask for one present. This is what I want:
A baby doll and Kit (with stroller, baby carrier and high chair)
Thanks,
Carter Clark"
Kaylie's letter went like this:
"Dear Santa,
I have been a good girl this year. I help mommy with my baby sisters. I would really like to ask for these things:
Tool Work Bench and tools
Squishy toys
sleeping bag
snow globe
I love you,
Kaylie Clark"
Now, you may think after reading the things asked for that I switched the names on these lists, but I didn't. Kaylie is such a tomboy, and sweet Carter wants more babies! What funny kids I've got! And I'm still debating whether or not to get Carter anything, I am really really having a hard time with him lately!!!
