Carter is 5!!!!!

Carter was super excited on his birthday because he got to choose our meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! He chose cereal for breakfast, chicken nuggets and french fries for lunch (Nathan put a candle on the nugget), and a breakfast dinner of waffles, sausage, and eggs.
He got 5 gifts and was really happy- he's getting so much better at smiling for the camera!

The girls got presents too (I did a family gift of squirt guns and diving sticks for the pool).

A new backpack for when he starts school
Abigail sporting our new "helmet of salvation" that we have to wear when we are forgetting to make good choices. It has worked well, but I think it only really fits Abigail's head!

Lily loves the squirt gun. I only let them use it in the pool, but Nathan still wasn't happy that I bought them. We are both opposed to guns, but for some reason I thought this would be a good summer gift for the pool. I was weak!

Random Super-Hero Cake, made from a R2D2 cake pan with gummy worms to write with. We call him CC (Carter Clark).

About as happy as a boy can be!

Kaylies' face cracks me up, like she is possessed by the candle-light or something.

Everyone wanted to lick off the bad guys as they were covered in frosting.

Mint chip ice cream and chocolate cake with fudge frosting- my kind of birthday!
The day before his birthday I took Carter on a date to go to garage sales, where he was allowed to spend some of his birthday money from grandma and grandpa. He was on cloud nine when he found a box full of Star Wars things at the first sale, and then a light saber at the next sale. He has been wanting one for a long time and we haven't been able to find any because they aren't sold in the stores anymore. I think he was definitely pleased with his birthday, even if he "only had a family party".

Happy Birthday Carter! Looks like a super fun party-presents-cake. I like the "helmet of salvation" idea. May have to snag that.
