Another Night on the OB

I couldn't resist taking a pic of Abigail sleeping soundly in the crib Maggie provided for her. I thought it pretty hilarious to see her head sticking out like this.
Lily was equally gone to the world of dreams, enjoying a spot in between Nathan and I on our bed at Grandpa's.

We were blessed to have a "night off " as Grandma and Grandpa graciously volunteered to watch the kids for us so we could have a date! What a great act of kindness! We went to the same seafood buffet we went to last year, but weren't quite so impressed this time around.

I have not craved seafood nor even wanted to taste most of it since I've been pregnant. So, I opted to have the "homestyle buffet" which turned out to be a bad choice. It was pretty much worse than cafeteria food and then only thing that looked remotely appetizing was the french fries. While Nathan loaded up on healthy seafood, I had a salad and fries. They did offer a nice dessert buffet which somewhat redeemed the experience.

After eating we went to Kmart and bought the kids some water gifts (goggles, diving sticks, and a frisbee). When we came back home we found an absolutely gorgeous sunset but I wasn't able to capture it in the picture. You can still see how beautiful this place is, even without the sunset. It was a treat to get to watch sailboats go by as we ate dinner, watch motor boats and fishermen go out to the ocean, and to see the kids so excited about being around the water. The Outer Banks really are a remarkable and delightful place to visit. I wonder if you'd start to take the beauty for granted if you lived there? I don't think a nice sunset can ever grow old.

Maggie knitted some nice slippers for Kaylie and Carter then let the kids play with some of her yarn. She is amazingly good with children and it was fun to see her and grandpa interact with the kids and have such patience and insight as to how to meet their needs and deal with their mishaps.

Grandma Maggie is also very good at keeping the house in ship-shape. We were very grateful to be so welcomed and especially to enjoy a "night off " while the kids played and watched Mary Poppins.
