Mothers Day 2010

OH MAN! I am so far behind again! I was so on top of this blog and now it has been a few weeks (I'm just now posting about Mother's Day- 3 Sundays ago) and I feel swamped with details of our lives to share!!@! Anyhow, now I'll have to do the shorter version of our stories since they seem older and less fresh to share.

So hard to get a good pic with all the kids, but we did our best. Too bad Carter already changed out of his cute church clothes and into his non-matching outfit.

A little open-mouth action

Nate took the kids on a walk and they came back with some "lovely" flowers for me that Nate promptly put into a Ricotta cheese container left over from a lasagna I had made. The "flowers" were mostly big leaves but it was the thought that count. I love Lily's face in this pic. She saw that I was taking a picture with Kaylie and she jumped right in and smiled, what a crack-up!

Just waiting for dinner. Abigail is using my "stick" I bought from Jazzercise last year. I love that thing! It is like a massager that you can do on yourself. I mostly use it for my neck, but it works really well everywhere else too.

The Master Chef in the kitchen. Little Helper on his way!

Nate found some old candies he bought me for my birthday (still in the cupboard) and had the kids unwrap them so that he could melt them and create a to-die-for chocolate frosting for my cake. I think it would've tasted a little better without the "crispy" part of the candies that didn't taste so crispy after being boiled down with half and half. Nate is a pretty creative and natural cook and I often get ideas from watching him go at it in the kitchen. Sometimes I think that we should trade jobs (except I hate feet).

Just waiting to be melted!

Let the boiling begin...

Enjoying a nice meal that I didn't have to prepare! I don't look very happy because Nate decided to take the only picture of our meal while I was in mid-bite of some steak (not something you can just chew and swallow really fast!). Nate made some easy potatoes, watermelon and corn to go with the steak. It was terrific.

The masterpiece cake (ignore the fact that it was lopsided, maybe he meant for it to be that way). It was filled with our favorite peanut-butter frosting between the middle layers. Yum!

He couldn't wait to dive in. I don't think I'd seen him that excited about anything that he has cooked, and he's come up with some great things in the past. He was very very proud of this cake! Thank you dear husband for making me happy on Mother's Day.
Later we opened a gift and a few cards that Kaylie had made for me at school. I don't know why I don't have pictures of them, but she made me a key chain that says "mother" and a book that she wrote herself. It is so nice to have kids that are old enough to understand and make an effort to thank us for all that we do for them!
As a gift for our kids on Mothers' DAy, we decided to let them know that we are expecting another sibling for them a little before Christmas. Kaylie was super excited and has now shared the news with everyone she can think of. It is an exciting and scary thing indeed.
