Grandma and Leanne Visit- Day One

"Mom, grandma's here and I want to look great.... do you think she'll like my hair?"
The girls were really excited to have Leanne and Grandma here to spoil them. They soaked in as much attention as they could and enjoyed every second of it.

We had a nice breakfast of eggs, bacon and peach muffins. After it was cleaned up, Grandma started reading the newspaper and it caught on in a hurry. All the kids wanted to join in and had fun destroying the pages and making it nearly impossible to read. Grandma remembered really quickly how it goes trying to "read" with little ones around.

After a simple morning, we drove to the Sterling Library and the kids enjoyed some computer time with Leanne while Grandma and I found lots and lots of books for the kids.

Then we went to the park that is attached to the library (this is part of our weekly routine and it was a bonus to have visitors to help entertain the kids, or be entertained by them). I was highly impressed to see Cindy get on the teeter totter with the kids, and they LOVED IT!!!

Leanne helped get all the kids energy out and Lily enjoyed showing her the jumping thing.

Abigail absolutely loves playgrounds and is getting really good at actually playing on them, and not just falling all the time. It was fun to see her show Grandma all her favorite places to go on the playground, and then to see Grandma nurture her when she did eventually fall.

Carter has learned how to swing around on the "tall, big-boy thing". He was really proud to show Grandma how big he was and he did it over and over. She was proud.
After the park, Cindy treated us to a nice Taco Bell lunch and the kids loved eating their nachos inside the restaurant. Leanne showed us a new thing they serve there and it looked fancy and tasted terrific. I can't remember what it is called, but it was yummy. We ate and then went home to nap until Kaylie got home from school, all of us but Leanne that is. She went out with her friend ARianne (sp?) from the mission and came home about the same time as Kaylie. Her friend stayed over for a while and we got to know her a little. She is a sweet 28year-old from the Phillipines and was getting married that weekend in the DC Temple (the reason Leanne and Cindy came out here). She was one of the people Leanne was able to teach on her mission and see baptized. It was nice to see Leanne in her missionary mode and fun to hear their stories and see them interact. They obviously have a special bond and it brought back some of my mission memories.
Kaylie was super excited to see Grandma and Leanne and wasted no time in getting out her book of favorite things from school and showing them off. She was hoping that Grandma would have a magic cure for her heart-blanky that she has adored since birth, but alas, it has been loved to death and is on its last leg with no happy cure. If Cindy could'nt fix it, I don't know anyone who could. Both Cindy and I assured her that we'd make her new blankies, so she was calmed down a bit. (she was crying and very emotional at the thought of losing something so dear to her).
It was wonderful to have some adult interaction with Leelee and Cindy. We sure love them and were very excited to have them come visit. Nathan was able to come home relatively early and we had a nice meal together and enjoyed talking after we got the kids to bed. We planned our next day and tried to get a good nights' sleep for what lie ahead.
