Thanksgiving with friends

We spent Thanksgiving with our good friends the Ercanbracks. We had most of the day to ourselves at home and it was really low key. I peeled 10 lbs. of potatoes and made some pumpkin muffins and stuffing, and that's all the cooking I had to do. It made it simple to have a joint meal and to split the cooking between 3 families. The Ercanbracks also had another family over from their old ward and it was nice to get to know them as well.
Nathan participated in the annual Turkey Bowl with our ward and played with the young men. He also brought Kaylie and Carter with him so they could play on the playground. I spent the good majority of my day studying the black Friday ads and trying to decide which stores I wanted to hit and what we needed/wanted to get. There are always so many ads it can be quite overwhelming. I'll have to write about that in another post.
The kids played very nicely during the time at the Ercanbracks. They enjoyed eating with friends and having time to play and watch movies. After the meal the adults played a game called, "ticket to ride" and the kids played downstairs. We thought all was going really well, until I found that Lily was not with the other kids downstairs. After a few minutes of searching, I found she had closed herself in their playroom and opened a brand new package of cocoa. She had opened it and poured most of its contents on their white carpet before I found her eating the remainder in the corner.

Adam was pretty worried about their carpet, but after going at it with their shop vac it all came up rather quickly and nicely. We were certainly luckily, because that could have been costly. No one wants a big brown stain on white carpet (yuck).

Lily after I cleaned her up. I forgot to get a picture of her covered in the cocoa and eating it.

There are a few remains of the mess on her face in this pic, but it does not even come close to showing the mess she made!
Overall, Thanksgiving was really fun and simple. We had a good time playing with our friends, but weren't really there all that long. We didn't get to their house until around 5pm and we ended up leaving around 8 pm so we could get some sleep before getting up at the crack of dawn for shopping and work.
