Before we headed for NYC, we stopped in the town of Little Falls where we visited with Jesse Lefave, one of Nathan's old friends from the branch. He has had a hard few years and it was good for Nathan to try and reconnect with him. Most of the youth from their program seem to have fallen away from the path that leads to true happiness and Jesse is no exception. We took him to the only restaurant that appeared to be in town (McDonald's) and I tried to keep the kids occupied while Nathan sat with Jesse at a seperate table and talked. We lasted about 45 minutes before I couldn't handle the kids anymore (there wasn't a play place). I felt bad they didn't get more time to reconnect, but at least it was a start.
Before visiting with Jesse, I must say that we also stopped at a little Amish co-op right by the Z's house and I bought about $40 worth of spices (that would've easily cost me $100 at the store). I was so excited and look forward to using these new finds that I'd never wanted to pay grocery store prices for (like mustard seed, sesame seeds, ham base, etc.) It was a fun little side trip.
