Niagara Falls with Uncle Dave

Spring Break 2010- We had the privilege of having a week of vacation as a family as Kaylie had spring break and Nathan had vacation from work. So, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity and we drove to NY last Friday. It only took about 8 hours to get to Buffalo, where we met Uncle Dave and his wife Karen. Uncle Dave drove Kaylie and Carter to the falls while Nathan and I followed behind with the girls. It was so nice to have a local show us around and tell us the histories behind the falls and its surroundings. Uncle Dave was really nice and we had a great time with him and his family.

Seeing Niagara Falls was pretty spectacular! Although it was rather cold outside and the kids didn't last very long, I did manage to get several good pictures. Uncle Dave explained that the falls drop up to 300 feet down and the mist goes up several hundred feet as well. It was amazing to witness one of Gods' glorious creations and I couldn't help but feel his power in the rushing waters. The kids were mesmerized as well.

My cute girls looking at the rushing waters.

A view of the mist. I guess when it is warmer outside they have boats that ride through the mists and behind the falls, but we didn't go at the right time of year.

Another family shot.

Rather than let the girls rome about, Nate just picked up the stroller to allow them to see the falls. I thought it looked pretty humorous and was glad I could count on my muscle man to not drop them!

Uncle Dave had lots of fun stories to share with us and it was fun to hear him talk. He reminded Nate and I so much of his father, Grandpa Al Feikert, that we just had to laugh.

A beautiful rainbow formed in the mist

We got up the nerve to let the girls run around and quickly realized why we hadn't done so earlier.... Lily scared me to death trying to climb through the gate!

It was neat to see the Canadian border just on the other side of the falls. It looked just like America, surprise surprise!

Poor little girls were exhausted after a long day. Neither of them had napped during the car ride, so I guess I should have been happy that they took little cat naps in the car on the way to Dave's house. I tried to nap a little while Dave, Nate and Kaylie and Carter got some snacks to eat from the grocery store.
