We decided to splurge in July and go to a baseball game in DC to watch the Nationals play. If we got there early we could've paid $5/ticket, but we couldn't find parking for under $25, so we opted to park about a mile away and walk. That ended up costing us because by the time we got up there the only tickets left were $18/ticket. It was a costly trip, but worth it in the end. The kids really liked the big presidents and geico lizard, and we had a good time showing them where professional baseball players play and how they could be on TV.

What beautiful green grass- the kids were excited, but I don't think anyone enjoyed it as much as Nathan! This is one of his passions and he had a great time sharing it with the kids.

We got some pretty bad seats because we had to look into the sun for the entire first half of the game. But at least we look cute in our sunglasses.

Lily always loves to dress up, even if she does it wrong.

Carter refusing to smile or open his eyes for the picture! What a punk!

Kaylie was looking forward to eating her bagel and cream cheese more than watching the game. Here she is showing it off!

And here is Carter giving me the death stare if I dare take any of his bagel away!
The kids had a great time, but probably enjoyed eating and playing on the playground (from which I couldn't see the game) more than they enjoyed actually watching anything. At least Nathan got to enjoy watching the game, and the kids and I kept entertained eating and playing. It was a fun family excursion, and hopefully next time it won't cost so much.
The drive home from DC is remarkably beautiful. You can see the lights on the Potomac River for a few miles and we all marvelled at seeing some of our nations' most important memorials lit up at night. Lily, who doesn't really talk yet, kept repeating her favorite phrase all the way home: "wowlookatthat!" It made the ride enjoyable despite the fact that it was past 10pm and the kids were exhausted.
