The first swim of the year!!! And boy are we excited! The kids have been asking "When is the pool going to have water in it? When can we go swimming?" For the entire year. Well, it is officially summer time and we are taking advantage of the free pool. June 2009
Carter, age 3, was hesitant at first and only wanted to play in the toddler pool, but after a while he warmed up to the "big" pool and has started going under and holding his breath.
Kaylie absolutely loves to swim. She is getting really good at it too! She learned that if she could pass the swim test she could swim in the big pool without me having to get in (while I'm at the toddler pool or lounging) and worked remarkably fast at becoming a fish. She passed the test within a week of learning about it. She swam from the deep end to the shallow end without touching the bottom or the side, and then tread water for 45 seconds. She is amazing and can accomplish anything she puts her mind to!
Daddy Nathan trying to get Lily warmed up to the idea of swimming. She refused to wear her floaty suit and yet hated having to be held. What a silly girl. Now, after going to the pool at least 3 times a week for the past month, the little 2 year old is a fish! She can swim the distance of the pool by herself, with only her floaty suit on. She kicks and moves her arms better than most 4 year olds. I am sure that she lots of my mother in her after seeing her in the pool this summer.
A shot of us and a friend, Jake Cecil, at the toddler pool. The lifeguards have breaks every 45 minutes for 15 minutes, in which all kids have to leave the big pool. That's when we hang out in the baby pool. The kids still manage to have tons of fun!
Abigail sporting her swim suit. What a cutie. She has mixed emotions about the water. She likes her flotation device for about 2 minutes then prefers to be held or scoot around the pool. I don't like either of the second options very much and holding her can be cumbersome, and letting her scoot around is both dangerous and detrimental to her suit. Just gotta love my little chub!
